    • I'm sorry to hear they aren't well.  I'm sure there's a lot of mixed feelings around all this. Still, it does sound like it'll be for the best.
    • W5D4:  I'm only counting sugary sodas for my Drink goal now, so just one large DrP after a DPZ and a DDP in the morning.  I'm going to finish up my sugarless drinks then cut them out and go back to just the regular one.  Having zero-calorie sodas available has severely increased my caffeine intake which has messed up my sleep; and for some reason they seem to increase my appetite.  By the beginning of the next challenge I'll be right back on track with my Drink goal.   Eat was another 4k disasterpiece.  Too much snacking on junky 'food' while at work in addition to my regular meals led to a small but not terrible overage for the day, but then I went to the store and took advantage of some sales.  One huge bowl of Cocoa Pebbles and another huge bowl of rocky road ice cream later I had easily blown the day's target.  4033 kcal, and the week stays red.   Move was good.  I set up my net in the backyard as soon as I got home and spent an hour working on my golf swing.  It was continuous and decently sweaty.   I'm half dreading and half looking forward to the scale this week--it's not going to be a good number, but that could be a good thing for the next challenge.
    • I am going to try spinning it by itself and in blends. It looks a lot like pearl cotton, so I may try for a finer weight. I want to find out how strong it is when spun. Silk is immensely strong as well as having a lovely sheen. My idea was to add silk to the alpaca yarn to make it stronger while retaining the softness. This gives me something new to play with.      Solidarity. I know that I have not needed the stuff for years. It could be donated, recycled or thrown out. Or it is buried treasure and I will be happy to rediscover it. Some things should go to the historical society. It is just a question of being willing to take the time.     I read a bit more last night and it continued to be disappointing. I already know to wash up the dishes as I am cooking. I do not get extra dishes dirty without a good reason.  In a perfect world I would not leave things to soak in the sink overnight. In my world, I try not to leave them more than 48 hours.   It is a short book so I am going to read some more of it. Maybe the later chapters will have useful tips. I will let you know.   ------------------- I talked with the young people again last night and they are not coming to the wedding. Elf had to go to urgent care yesterday. Things will probably be fine, but they are not good right now. Cleo is too unsteady to walk not hanging onto something or someone.    It took me about 15 minutes to go from being disappointed to realizing that them staying home will make the trip better for me and Dumbledore. We do not need to get up early on Saturday so that they can have breakfast with my brother who lives on the east coast. He is hosting the groom's party on Friday, so he is thrilled to get more sleep Saturday morning. Dumbledore can do things on his own while I am spending time with my mom. This will make everyone happier. We are going to Ikea on Sunday to look at possible new furniture for the living room. We can take our time and not worry about Elf and Cleo waiting for us in the restaurant. I will have to answer the "where is Elf?" questions, but that is a small price to pay for a much rosier attitude towards the weekend.
    • Things have still been going well. Tracking food, still moving, making progress on several projects. Biggest difficulty is not wearing PJs to work from home.
    • Doesn't seem viable at my office. I'd get startled whenever someone I didn't hear is suddenly standing next to me...       Although that already happens when I'm listening to music that's too loud... 😁   Good to hear I'm not alone in this. 😇
    • Maybe try starting smaller. I am basically trying to reduce sweet stuff in my diet, like sweet cereals, jam, cake, sweets, chocolate, sugared yogurts. That kind of thing.  having a savory breakfast has really helped. Like scrambled eggs, omelette or  fruit and greek yogurt.  i havent cut out sugar completely, ive just picked fewer sweet snacks, try to be aware of what I'm choosing when out. Trying to pick fruit, nuts or a healthy snack instead of sugar. .  do i manage to stick to it every week 😆 nope. Have i found i want to eat less sugar now. 100%. (Which is a big thing for me. Very sweet tooth)   If you don't have the mental space to count cals, cutting down on sugar and highly processed foods is a good option. Basically what my brother is doing at the moment (and it is working for him).
    • Sorry for the TMI, but ^these^ actually gave me a blister on my bum two weeks ago... 😬   That'll teach me to do stuff like this with my jeans on. It was the middle belt loop, I tell ya! 😅
    • Good suggestion. I will google. Always looking for new things.   Tell me about it. I have yet to get all the way through any beginners yoga vid, regardless of length. 15mins is max for me, the instant they start doing downward dog it kills me.    There are probubly other options too. I have seen chair tai chi, but sadly i have found sourcing normal thai chi vids is a complete pain let alone specialist ones.    The free version of lose it was good. I found it Nice and low fuss. Worked a thousand times better than my fitbit app.
    • I am feeling better today than I was yesterday. I was overly tired and exhausted and basically went after writing my post. I am very aware I need to make changes so I will ponder on more on that.* Feet still suck and it was super painful to get up at 3am and walk to the bathroom. But it hasn't been that bad since so I am grateful. It's not great but its just painful instead of incredibly painful   Its the little things.    Today and tomorrow my plan is to rest my feet and work on my tamagotchi app. I went back to bed after dropping Mr.R off and got some much needed extra sleep. When I woke up, I went and paid my mechanic bill because I was afraid I would forgot because I stole my car back last night (with their permission). Later today, I will go pick up Mr.R; it sounds like they are coming back early but I have no clue when.    *I am really playing with the idea of trying no added sugar but I have some doubts... mainly I have a little voice in the back of my head saying that's a big change and you can't even count calories.. how can you try removing added sugar from your diet when it is literally everywhere. The other little voice is saying how its going to be hard because of the foods we like to eat and it's not just me who lives here. Mr.R also needs to lose a lot of weight but I don't know if he would be down for no added sugar. I think it would be more do-able once I get into a routine of home cooking and sticking to whole foods but everything has sneaky added sugar so it would still be hard.
    • I feel I have been like this since April 2022 maybe. I think it is worth a shot to try a different app. At this point in my journey I do need the gentle reminders to keep myself in check.    She is! Roomy mainly takes care of her during the day so I can focus on coding stuff or if I go to my parents to clean. Then I mostly take care of her at night it seems. And I do the middle of the night bathroom trips. Those at least are getting better. I think since Wednesday last week she's consistently only needing to go out once during the night and sometimes she's good until 5:30.    I hadn't thought to look for chair yoga or pilates. Thats a great suggestion. I will look for videos to add. I had a few "beginner movement" yoga videos but I run into issues when you need to do poses that put a lot of weight on your wrists.    Hey 1/3 is still really good and it's only a matter of time until you can conquer 2/3 and then 3/3. Have you tried yoga ball crunches? Those were the most effective for me out of the gate. An old personal trainer got me to do them and at first I was like pfft easy.... too easy... how can these be effective. But effective they were.    Lol my midsection feels sore just looking at this. Does that count?
