My goodness, things move fast in your life. It may not seem that way to you, but a lot has happened in the last week. I am in awe of your dice. I thought Dumbledore had an extravagant collection. Yours is magnificent. 🌟 Is this keep solely a military outpost, or is it a feudal holding with agricultural lands around it? If it has feudal control of the countryside, you can offer the superintendent a share of the profit from managing the people and resources. They will also have to manage the staff of the keep. This is the same situation feudal lords had to deal with when they went off to the wars. I am sure you can find culturally appropriate stories for inspiration. I am so glad this is all working out. And that it is almost over. Yay! Good sleep makes everything else in life sooooooooooo much easier. Yep, that seems to be the consensus for this challenge. Holding ground is a fine place to be. Sometimes strategic retreat to a better location is really the best course of action. We want to believe we can move forward consistently, but that is an occasional happy condition, not the norm.

From what I've seen of these forums, challenges vary quite a bit from person to person and from challenge to challenge. I've seen challenges where the goal is just to show up and post, ones where the goals aren't ever mentioned because writing them down will make them not happen, ones where there are no goals and the thread is just a place to hang out, ones where there are no overall challenge goals, just a list of things to do that's developed every day as things come up, and many more variations. If this challenge isn't working for you, it's okay to try something that looks different. If your thread doesn't have any goals and is more like a journal of what's going on in your life, or a bunch of pictures, or songs you enjoy (or if you start out posting one sort of thing and that changes over time), that's fine. We'll just be happy you're here. -
I love the swimming tracker!! Okay, okay, so I just tend to love a tracker in general. I'm a nut for spreadsheets 😆 But I do think that sounds like fun and hope you get to earn that first prize soon!! The Happiness Trap book sounds really interesting too. It's not one I'm familiar with, but it sounds like it could be talking about some issues my cousins and I have run into (basically getting constantly distracted by thinking there must be an option out there that will make us "happier" than we are now, to the point where it's tough to just pick something and commit to it even when it turns out to be imperfect because, duh, that's how real life works). Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it!

The desk is still cluttered and all the good habits I had established in the last challenge (slow carb diet, not getting wasted daily, getting almost-enough sleep) went out the window shortly after I made the original post 🙄 I...don't know why this always happens. It's like the moment I give myself a goal, even if it's something easy and/or that I am ALREADY DOING, then some subconscious part of my brain is like NOW I'M GOING TO DO THE EXACT OPPOSITE LOL. It's frustrating. I actually enjoy posting on these forums, but ghosted due to having practically /shamequit. I know that NF Steve often says that we never start over from square one because each failed attempt gives us more experience. So far it seems that the only "experience" I've gained from all these failed attempts (and I'm batting 100% when it comes to failing at these challenges) is that goals don't work and that challenges don't work. So...I don't really know what to do anymore. I don't want to just quit these forums because I like it here. I enjoy how quiet it is on the NF forums, and how these forums don't have ads or a fucking algorithm deciding what I get to read. Eh. If I can unclutter the desk before leaving for my trip (April 22) then I'll count that as a win. Then maybe I can just copy/paste my original post into a new thread when it's time for the next challenge, because apparently I don't learn from my failures. -
Very understandable that your tolerance for drama llama is reduced. I'm so happy that the lifting helped you feel better. That's awesome.

This is exactly what ACT is: making room for the feeling to exist (because it already does exist) while also recognizing that it isn't the only thing that exists. Our bodies and the world exist around it. We are not being swallowed whole by it. We can continue to move our bodies and be in the world around it. Yay! So happy you have a happy resolution to this situation, even if it was a bit long in coming.

Monday evening I went to aikido, then to the grocery store. The list was fairly short, mostly fresh produce. I am still working on integrating the idea that someone in the family will go to the grocery store several times a week. If I forget something or the store is out of it, that is a temporary issue. Remembering that will take some of the pressure off of me trying to find everything in the large, weirdly organized grocery store. I was planning on having to unload and put all the groceries away by myself because it was after 9pm and the young people have been going to bed early. So I was pleasantly surprised when they heard me come in and came out to help without being asked. 💓 Tuesday evening was less productive. I came home and relaxed for a bit, then washed dishes. Dishes were not originally on my list for the evening but I could tell they were going to annoy me if I didn't do something about them. Half of the dishes were from me cooking, so it was not all other people's mess. I was right about it making me feel better. After that, I sat zen.

Did a somatic therapy via zoom. It didn't go well because zoom wouldn't open so I wasted ten minutes on that before the therapist just called by phone. She had only scheduled half an hour, so we did about 25 minutes after the late start. It was okay talking by phone but not ideal. She had some good ideas. I slept badly so the rest of the day was one short walk and then just BG1. I'm torn between the kind of class I want and the kind of sprite (the in game figures with different appearances) that I want. Dilemma.
