My Story

I've followed Nerd Fitness for a long time now, since sometime in early 2012, if memory serves me right. I participated in 6-Week Challenges, joined The Academy, and threw in with the scallywags of Nerd Fitness Yoga. For better than a year I had been eating clean, lifting heavy, and leveling up every day.

I took an 18ft fall in 2014 fracturing three vertebra in my mid back and separating my right shoulder. I am still working on recovering my physical strength and pre-injury abilities. Then I had a surgery in 2015 to repair a disc in my neck. I tried to come back to fitness a few times with my injuries and limitations realistically in mind through 2015 and 2016, but I just wasn't able to maintain anything. In 2017 I made some significant changes but fell out of them as life events occured. I had been struggling with depression and anxiety and loss of self worth since I got hurt. Life felt hopeless most of the time, with it being so hard for me to do a lot of the simple things to take care of myself because of my back and shoulder pain.

I was sick and tired of being sick and tired.

So here's how it is.

I am going to start tracking what I am eating, for the next month. I will start getting up at 0700 and going for a walk. I will do a body-weight workout on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I will do a short yoga routine on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I will start reading the two heathen books I've been moving around and not really doing anything with. I will start preparing for bed at 2130 every night.

This is where we live right now.
