I've sort of changed directions with how i'm doing this. I haven't put any money into it yet. I plan to re-invest everything I make back into as I start. That way I don't need to risk my families well being while still chasing my dream. It also adds a new level of challenge and decisions as I prioritize what to spend money on first so that I can grow the business organically. At some point this might all change, but we'll see. I won't check this off until I have purchased a business license, a domain name, have business cards and my office/shop is set up.
Serve first Client 10 XP
I HAVE SERVED MY FIRST CLIENT! He came to my home last night and I did some tutoring with him, and worked to get his PC running better. He left it with me and I continue to work on it. I won't check this off until I get PAID!
Well, that one didn't really work out. The guy didn't call on Tuesday and when I tried to reverse look up their number I kinda hit a dead end. I'm starting to wonder if it wasn't some kind of scam thing. The job they wanted me to do on Saturday morning when they called was checking the security system at a pet store. . . I'll be waiting for the next call. Might need to post the ad page and start posting in more places.
I got a response to my Kijiji ad! (Also... I made a kijiji ad) It wasn't what I was expecting. I have been planning to market myself to older folks. They were always my best customers at Staples and responded well to how I spoke with them. Instead of some little old lady looking for help with the face book, I got a call from a Tech Consulting company looking to hire more technicians for field work in my area! This could lead to some steady work, and while I wouldn't be working for MY clients, work is work and I'll be doing something I love. I got the call as I was heading to bed so they said they'd call back on Tuesday to set up a trial job to see how I fit. I'm pretty excited about it. Worried too, because I'm not fully set up and not ready to take this on at the capacity this might entail.
