My Story

I was always a big kid growing up. When I was a teenager I reached 260 lbs. I realized I was going down a bad path and something needed to change. Never again I promised myself. I followed the weight watchers plan for a few months, and got down to around 225 lbs. I couldn't believe how big I was when I looked back at pictures. Over the next several years the weight crept back. For a few years I hovered around 240 lbs, trying various diet and exercise programs during that time. Once I got married the weight crept back again, until a couple of years ago I reached my highest ever at 290 lbs. I have tried multiple times to lose weight since then, and all my attempts worked for a couple of weeks, getting me down into the 270 lbs range, but inevitably I gave up and the weight came back. I am now in medical school, and not only want to lose weight for myself and my family, but I want to set an example of health for my future patients.

I know that a healthy diet and exercise can work, because it worked for me when I was younger; the trick is getting it to stick. The times I have done best have been when I have some accountability, and so far Nerd Fitness is really working for me in that respect. I also love the change of mindset: I'm not just trying to lose weight anymore, I'm trying to level up, get better each day and become something greater.
