Coach Sarah could be the Coach for you!

Sarah grew up favoring books over sports; she read everything she could get her hands on, and her passion for learning served her well as she earned a BS in Biology and PhD in biomedical sciences.
Once out of school, stay-at-home mom life became her priority, but she started running and strength training as a form of stress relief and to help work through postpartum depression.
When she discovered powerlifting, the fitness fire was lit, and Sarah knew she found her calling. Though academia wasn’t for her, Sarah took her knowledge of the human body and shifted her focus to become a certified personal trainer.
Also earning certification with Precision Nutrition, Sarah’s a Coach who can meet beginners where they are to build a plan for sustainable change, and also walk alongside those with more experience who are ready to level up their training.
Strength training, martial arts, working with new or busy moms, and building long-term habits may be a few areas of expertise for her, but Sarah’s able to meet each client where they’re at and dig in to find the best way forward!

Within one day of starting Nerd Fitness Coaching, Coach Sarah became one of my favorite humans ever to have existed. She has been incredibly supportive throughout my journey, even when things were at their lowest, and her super smart ramblings are the highlights of my day. I love that I was matched with someone who does not spare nerdy details when explaining how the human body works. She has cheered me on, been an empathetic ear, and kept me laughing with her wild chicken stories, all while wearing the single best hats in existence (shout out to the Zoidberg beanie!). I could not be happier to have her on my team as I work on becoming the healthiest, strongest, and best version of myself.

Sarah helped me navigate through one of the toughest times in my life: postpartum with my second child. She has provided the perfect amount of support for my overall health, customization to my own needs and goals, and accountability without a side of guilt. I’m able to be a stronger, healthier mother to my kids without ever feeling like I had to massively sacrifice my lifestyle or mental health. Sarah helped me find me again by guiding me through the journey of finding what works and what doesn’t. As I keep defining that, I’m so grateful to have Sarah on my team!

I’ve been working with Coach Sarah for 1.5 years, and I can’t say enough about how great the experience has been. One of the things I really value about her is her scientific approach. She knows her stuff, and if you ever want to nerd out over scientific articles or send her an NIH study, she’d happily dive into it with you!
What I’ve appreciated most is her ability to adapt and tailor everything to fit my needs. There have been moments when things didn’t make sense to me or weren’t quite working, but Sarah was always ready to pivot and find a solution.
Beyond her expertise, Sarah genuinely cares about me as a person. She takes the time to understand my goals and interests and works with me in a way that feels personal and sustainable. Sarah has been an amazing partner in my journey. I couldn’t ask for a better coach!

Coach Sarah is awesome! She is easy-going, relatable, understanding, non-judgmental, and a huge nerd! Not to mention, she really knows her stuff and is great at providing feedback and new ways of thinking about things to help make your fitness plan really work for you! In working with Coach Sarah, I gained not just a coach and accountabilibuddy, but a friend I enjoy talking to about my nerdy interests too.

Coach Sarah recognizes that fitness is both a crucial part of my life and just one part of the bigger picture. She works with me to understand what I’m trying to achieve, whether it’s a long-term goal of getting stronger or a short-term goal of getting through a stressful couple of weeks. I really appreciate how thoughtful she is about planning each block of a program. She integrates input from others to help me work towards my goals and around any obstacles and is direct about tradeoffs I may need to make. Last, she always provides enthusiastic encouragement whether things are going well or not.

After lengthy medical issues, getting healthy was still ahead for me. Sarah’s experiences of the long journeys taken to achieving her own outstanding successes have made her coaching a crucial part of getting my life back. She is quirky, genuine, realistic, but optimistic. A nerd’s nerd and an athlete’s athlete.

Coach Sarah is fabulous! She is always patient and kind. I have had major dental and other health issues (menopause and surgery), and Sarah is always ready to accommodate and adjust to fit my needs. She is supportive and quite knowledgeable and digs deep into the research on current health/workout information to give me the best advice. Her Marvel knowledge is EXCEPTIONAL! We chat about workouts, food, and modifications to best my needs. She has a wicked sense of humor, and I can always rely on good chats with her.

Coach Sarah has been a strong support and advocate during my quest to find a health regimen that works for me. She has unending patience and creativity as we work together, and I enjoy chatting with her, even if it’s just about movies and other nerd-dom. She’s always so excited for the least bit of victory, and I really appreciate all her efforts! Yay, Coach Sarah!

Star Wars or Lord of the Rings
Of the two, Star Wars, but I will always love Star Trek the most! I am a HUGE space junkie and love to read and watch as much fiction and non-fiction about space as possible. I actually have a small collection of Ewoks thanks to an inside joke with my husband.
Favorite Video Game of All Time
I loved Mortal Kombat on the Sega back in the day, but my current favorite is Mario Kart on the Switch with my husband and three daughters. We also love to play all of the LEGO video games, especially the Marvel ones.
What are you passionately nerdy about?
I love comic books, especially Marvel, although Invincible hooked me in so hard last year that I read TEN YEARS’ worth of comics in under a month (and I’m dying of excitement waiting for the cartoon to come out). I also love building LEGO sets and finding new and entertaining ways to incorporate our nerdiness, including LEGO, into our home decor. I’m (obviously) a HUGE physiology and pharmacology nerd and spend a lot of time chasing down information on PubMed. Finally, my favorite holiday is Halloween because I go crazy putting together the perfect family costumes.
