Win a Free Copy of The Rebel Fitness Guide!

Published on 08/16/2010 - 61 comments!

Next week, I plan on officially releasing the Rebel Fitness Guide to the world (cue the fireworks).

Back on July 26th, I made a beta-version of the guide available for only 72 hours.  In those few days, over 100 rebels-in-training purchased the guide and have been leveling up their lives ever since.  During these past three weeks, I’ve been emailing, skyping, and g-chatting with these folks to get their opinions on the guide, answer any questions, and keep track of any suggestions they might have on how to improve it.

I’ve been working hard to make this e-book the best and most enjoyable method for people to get started on their journey to a healthy life full of awesomeness, and I plan on many long nights this week as I do what I can to make it absolutely perfect.  Check out the product page if you’re not sure what’s in it.

Because I’m releasing this sucker next week, I figured I might as well give away two free copies! Two is better than one, right?

How to Win Copy #1

You can win one copy here by leaving a comment on this article answering the question:

Why do you exercise?

This is why I exercise: Exercise makes me feel complete.  I have so many things I want to accomplish in life, and I can only do those things if I am healthy and in shape.  I want to be around for a long time, and I know that making an investment now and establishing good habits early will pay dividends later and allow me to watch my great-grandchildren grow up.

I love acquiring new skills (like in The Matrix), and I can only do those things if my body is prepped and ready for exciting activities.  After all, it’s tough to become proficient in Parkour, Capoeira, or rock climbing if all of my free time is spent eating Oreos, watching the Jersey Shore, and going to the doctor for unhealthy issues.  I exercise because I am inspired daily by the Nerd Fitness Community (that’s you!), and I want to continually better myself to be a good example.

I exercise because it makes me happy.

How to Win Copy #2

Become a fan of Nerd Fitness on Facebook, and comment on the latest post:

What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to do before you die, and how will getting in shape help you get there?

I’ll post my answer on Facebook, and then you can do the same.  I’ll pick one random winner from the comments on that post (as long as they’ve been posted before Sunday at 6pm Eastern).

Your Turn

Why do you exercise? If you’re not exercising currently, what will be your motivation to exercise next week when you pick up the Rebel Fitness Guide? (wink wink, nudge nudge)

Simply leave a comment on this post with your answer before Sunday, August 22nd, at 6PM eastern, and I’ll pick a random winner from the people that leave an answer.  If you happen to win and you already have a copy of the guide (thank you!), let me know if you have a friend you’d like to give it to and I’ll send it to them instead.

The rebellion is growing stronger by the day, and I couldn’t be more excited.

I want to start exercising because I have a one year old daughter and I want to be around to see her grow up. I haven’t been taking care of myself the way I should and I know if I don’t pay the price now then I will pay the price later.

At this point I just love the feeling of working out. I used to be more vain and wanted to be slimmer, but I’m hooked on a feeling now. Ions sweating. As far as I’m concerned each bead of sweat is a bit of fat dripping away, so I like to sweat as much as possible. Ions walking out of the gym completely spent knowing I’ll be sore as he’ll tomorrow. I love doing things that seemed impossible two months ago. I love not knowing what I’ll be able to do in two months that seems impossible now. I usually hate trying new things but I’m really open minded at the gym, so I love having at least one avenue where not afraid to try something new and different.

    I exercise because:
Last June I weighed 342 pounds and logged more than 60 hours a week playing various MMOs and ignoring my family. When I asked my wife what one thing I could change about myself that would make our marriage better she simply said, “Get Healthy so you don’t die young and leave us all alone.” That simple statement set off the last 14 months of losing 120 pounds, running multiple 10K races, taking up rock climbing and working out at the gym 3 times a week.

In fact that simple statement has also led to giving up video games all together, reducing TV time to an hour or so a day (usually with my family), throwing all my porn in the garbage and focusing on my wife instead and a whole bunch of other awesome changes.

Why do I exercise? I’ll list a multitude of reasons.

First and foremost, I exercise for my daughter. She’s almost three years old, I’m thirty. When she’s my age and has a three year old of her own running around, I want to be the active, happy grandpa – the one who takes the little ones hiking and swimming in the ocean, the one who does all the fun stuff outside, and I want her to be instilling those values in her children – and the only way for me to insure that is to be healthy enough to be doing those things with her all along.

I exercise for my job. I keep people safe for a living, and that involves me being healthy enough to be “going” for 10+ hours at a time. .

I exercise for pleasure. There’s nothing like the endorphin rush you get from a good workout.

I exercise because I want to look like a superhero. I go to comic book conventions frequently, and there’s nothing worse than a fat Spiderman…

I exercise so that I will be around and active for my grandkids…when i get them!

I exercise because I want to be healthy. I had weight problems as a kid and a family history of diabetes. I want to be fit as long as possible. I have great respect for 90 year olds who are still able to hike and climb and live with relative ease.

So that’s why I exercise: I want to be a buff, healthy nonagenarian.

Hi Steve, great site. keep up the good work. I really enjoy reading your articles and I’ve refered a lot of your articles to my boyfriend to try and help him get motivated in his weight loss journey! Thank you for all your work and advices.

Why I exercise: I exercise because I want to feel good about myself. I also want to be there for as long as I can for my family, friends and boyfriend and I try to do everything I can to make that happen. We only have one life to live and it is very short so might as well get the best out of it, right!?!

I used to be a very active person when I was young (played baseball, tennis, soccer, karate, etc…) Anything related to sports I liked to do. I was really fit. Then for some reason, I decided to stop all that. I began to gain some weight (I was lucky enough to not gain a lot of weight and realise to start exercising again before it’s too late). I am not overweight but I can’t say that I am or was in good shape and I see now how not in good shape I was (now that I started exercising again, I am getting in better shape every day and I feel the difference in my day to day life)

I exercise because it just brings a smile to my face after every workout. I feel good and with lots of energy and it makes me feel like I’m accomplishing something of my life.

I exercise because I want to look my best for my wife, and be the best for my family. I have a high metabolism, so I could continue to live however I want, but I know the better I take care of myself, the better I’ll feel, and the better I’ll be for those I love and care about. Plus, my wife is trying to get in shape, and I feel it’s only fair that I work out too.

Well to be honest, at first I exercised because two of my friends did and they were much stronger and better looking than i was.. I wanted that too. But that attitude changed and I did exercise for fun. I felt so much better and I startet to love killing on the weights. Meanwhile my friends stopped training and I found a new fellow at the gym who is now one of my best friends.

    flashback – out

I exercise because while doing and especially after the workout I feel like being able to achieve every goal I am setting.

    greetings from Germany

    Christoph

Great little contest you have here! Personally, I exercise so that I feel physically fit and also it gives my internal organs a run out, which normally it does not get anything. I have been forced to exercise really so that I look good in front of my girlfriend. As the motto goes, the better the body, the better… you know the rest. Besides, I enjoy it now!
